Indian Creek Nature Center (Upper and Lower Lakes Wildlife Management Area): The Indian Creek Nature Center is located in the Town of Canton on Country Route 14, towards Rensselaer Falls. The Nature Center has around 5 miles of trails and host a number of winter events.
SUNY Canton College: 15 km of trails, accessed from Parking Lot 6 across from French Hall, bear left at the Y, free.
St. Lawrence Golf / Country Club: Off Rt. 11, Canton, access behind Best Western, from Pike/Russell Roads, 25 miles of groomed trails, free.
Remington Recreation Center at Partridge Run Golf Course: Outer State Street, Canton, miles of ungroomed trails, free. The Remington Trail, also known as the Partridge Loop, is a paved 3.2 mile loop; this particular loop is plowed in the winter, but can be icy during the winter months.
Kip Trail: 1.25 miles, located off Park Street at St. Lawrence University. Ungroomed trail for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Saddlemire Trail: Over 4.5 miles ungroomed available for skiing and snowshoeing, connecting to the Kip Trail near Pike Road.
Five Ponds Wilderness Area: Remote, back-country skiing, 40 miles of trails, starting in Wanakena, two miles south of NYS Hwy 3; in Wanakena across Oswegatchie River on one-lane bridge. High Falls "truck trail" goes straight ahead; park next to tennis courts; for Dead Creek Flow trail, turn left after crossing bridge, go one-half mile. Please visit the Five Ponds Wilderness Area website. Trail ungroomed.
Peavine Swamp Ski Trail: State Highway 3, west of Cranberry Lake, main trail of 3.9 miles to state lean-to on Oswegatchie River, two loops at either end of 3.4 and 1.2 miles each, and 2.1 mile loop in middle. Trail ungroomed.
Gilbert Tract Ski Trail: State Highway 3, just east of Cranberry Lake, 2 mile loop trail, or 2 miles out and back on Cranberry Lake 50 trail. Please visit the Cranberry Lake Complex website. Trail ungroomed.
Higley Flow State Park: Off Rt. 56, 2 miles east of South Colton, 23 km of free trails.
Catamount Forest: 9 miles South of South Colton on the East side of State Route 56. Limited parking available at Catamount Mountain trail head, just South of the lodge driveway. Groomed trails open to the public.
High Flats State Forest: The High Flats cross country skiing trail is located in the High Flats State Forest in the Town of Colton. The High Flats State Forest consists of 4.5 miles of trails and 2.6 miles of unplowed roads used to complete the loop.
Glenmeal State Forest: Town of Pierrepont, off County Road 24, accessed from Rt. 68, 1.9 miles of trails, free.
Nicandri Nature Center, Robert Moses State Park: The Robert Moses State Park and Nature Center is located at 19 Robinson Bay Road in Massena. The Nature Center offers free cross country ski and snowshoe rentals for children and adults.
Wilson Hill: Wilson Hill is located in the Town of Louisville on the Wilson Road off of State Highway 37. The 1.6 mile trail (3.2 mile round trip) begins at the parking lot located on the left side of the Wilson Road and heads west until the trail comes to an end at the DEC building.
Clarkson University: Five miles of trails, accessible from parking lot on hill campus by Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) by big green water tower, free.
SUNY Potsdam Lehman Park: Off Rt. 56, Potsdam, 4 km. of trails, free.
Brasher State Forest: Off County Road 50, Brasher Falls, or Rt. 11 at St. Lawrence Central School, free.
Lenny Road, Parishville: 7 km of trails, free.
Browns Bridge, Postwood Park Trails: The Browns Bridge-Postwood Park Trail is located about 4 miles from Potsdam off of Church Street on Postwood Park Road in Hannawa Falls. The trail begins at Postwood Park and is comprised of two loops. The first loop is located on the west side of the River Road and is 1.6 miles in length. The second loop is located on the east side of the River Road and runs for 4.1 miles. These trails are designed for novice to expert skiers.
River Hill: The River Hill Ski Trail is located in the Town of Stockholm in the Southville State Forest. The trail's total distance is 2.3 miles, with 1/2 mile paralleling the west branch of the St. Regis River. The trail head is located about 5 miles from Potsdam on the West Stockholm-Southville Road, off of Route 11B. This trail is for novice to moderate skiers.
